Music is part of our life almost every day. Even if you don’t consider yourself a big fan of music, you still unwittingly listen to music every day. A great place where we listen to music is on TV.

There is background music and “mood music” in the sitcoms and TV shows you watch every day. We have heard all these catchy commercial jingles that stay with us all day. These are just some examples of music.

types of music

You can buy CDs, listen to the radio and even listen to music or learn more about music on TV. MTV, VH1 and various other TV channels are geared towards music. You can turn on the radio and collect waves from many local and some remote stations that play different types of music.

Some of the most common types of music are country, R&B, hiphop, rock, classic and pop or dance. Many other categories have emerged from these basic genres. There are also many different categories per decade. For example, you can get hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today. You will play all the hits and charts of this era.

Digital music

Like many other things in life today, music has gone digital and there are many other ways to have fun now. You can download music online and save it on your computer. You can also listen to music online. There are many websites that you can listen to music and there are literally thousands of stations so you can listen to any type of music you like. You can customize many of them so that you only hear what you like and nothing you don’t like.

Another step forward in the digital music scene was the MP3 file. MP3s are just one way to compress a music file because the music files are quite large. MP3 can be downloaded to your computer, saved in folders and even transferred to MP3 players. There are portable MP3 players that are basically modern Walkman, but instead of the radio or CDs they have digital files.

The number of files that can be saved varies, but you can save much more than you can save on a CD because they are compressed. They are stored on your computer in digital format, so you don’t have to worry about skipping or losing your station.
